Data Freshness
Data Freshness is how recently the numbers in an analytics view were updated, since data from social and streaming platforms always arrives with some delay.
Data Freshness describes how up to date the numbers on an analytics screen are. Any tool that pulls data from outside platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or streaming services, depends on when those platforms make the data available. That means there is almost always a gap between something happening and it appearing in your dashboard.
The size of that gap varies. Social platforms release metrics through their APIs on their own schedules, and a post published a few minutes ago will keep collecting engagement for hours or days, so its numbers keep changing. Different metrics can refresh on different cycles too: post metrics might update several times a day, while follower totals or streaming figures update daily. Knowing this prevents panic over a post that looks flat simply because the data has not caught up yet.
For example, an artist checks their dashboard 20 minutes after posting a release announcement and sees almost no reach. By the next morning, after the data has synced, the same post shows its real numbers and is one of the best performers of the month.
melabel's Social Analytics syncs your connected accounts on a regular cycle and shows when data was last updated, so you always know whether you are looking at the full picture or a post that is still settling.
