Follower Growth

2 min read

Follower Growth is the change in an account's follower count over a period, shown as net new followers or as a growth rate, and tracked daily, weekly or monthly.

Follower Growth measures how an account's audience changes over time. It can be shown as a net number (new followers minus people who unfollowed) or as a growth rate, which divides that net change by the follower count at the start of the period. Most analytics tools let you view it at daily, weekly or monthly granularity.

Each view answers a different question. Daily numbers are good for spotting spikes and tying them to a specific post, playlist add or press moment. Weekly and monthly views smooth out the noise and show whether your audience is genuinely building. Growth rate matters more than raw totals when comparing accounts, because gaining 500 followers means something very different at 2,000 followers than at 200,000.

For example, an artist might see a flat month on Instagram, then a jump of 1,200 followers in the three days after a live session clip is shared by a larger account. Reading Follower Growth daily shows exactly which moment moved the needle, and that insight shapes what to post next.

melabel's Social Analytics tracks Follower Growth for every connected account in one chart, so you can compare platforms and line up growth against releases, campaigns and streams in your Music Analytics.
